“Counties face challenges in their bid to raise adequate financing for all their projects. As such, we need to explore outside the box.
County bonds, particularly green bonds, present an opportunity for counties to generate resources for the much needed development of county infrastructure such as water piping, county roads and the development of agriculture in a green resilient manner.
We are therefore exploring all mechanisms and partnerships that can help us realize our capacity.
As such, this morning, I have received a delegation from FSD-Kenya, ADA Consortium, Agusto & Co and the Nairobi Securities Exchange who are in Embu to assist us to assess the potential for Embu to access and apply to the bond market for the development of green activities and will consist of the following; Economic and Fiscal Assessment, Credit Risk Assessment, Green Asset and Activity Assessment and Green Finance Capability Assessment that will assess the County’s skills and ability to manage green fiscal instruments (with a focus on green bonds) and related projects.” – Hon.
